We took a close look at how other successful companies market and sell their gift cards. It was a lot of the same. We didn’t see anything that drastically improved the purchase flow or marketed them in a compelling way. AMC had the opportunity be the leader in the space.
Layering on the strategy of “Craft a Night” was natural after simplifying the experience. The gifter can load the card with the value of the night. For example, 2 tickets, 2 popcorns and sodas will approximately equal the value of $50.
An occasion based gift was perfect for the application of the gift card. It wasn’t about the gift or the money, but planning the right night for your loved one, where they can celebrate their occasion and have an excuse to upgrade concessions and better viewing experiences. The first step was to simplify they flow.
